There was nothing too surprising about the code of ethics I researched with my group, it was really standard practices.

As for the course, I know this sounds very basic but I feel like I've gained better insight and understanding of media as a whole. One of the lectures I felt was very impactful was the journalism code of ethics. I don't have a major, but journalism has always been something that interested me, I even keep up with a few journalists, so it was really eye opening to learn about this massive tenet of ethics they have to keep in mind whenever they decide to put an article up. The code of ethics was interesting to learn about, especially because I may have to look at them in the future. The other topic that stood out to me were the lectures on radios broadcasts and all the policies associated with them. It was a little funny to see the early reactions to radio, even if some of them were proven to be exaggerated later on. Also, I never knew stations had to be approved by the FCC, I was always under the impression that someone could just grab a radio and do whatever they wanted, a little strange how regulated the radio industry is compared to the net. The last section of the course that interested me most was the origins of television, an entertainment that only came into existence to advertisement, not out of pure artistry, which is a little cynical to me. I know most forms expression have to make money some how but its still something that I just can't come to terms with, I think art should just be free to exist, separate from monetary interest. Overall, I've really enjoyed this course and loved learning about the media I consume on a daily basis.
