The role of reporters is becoming more and more interesting, especially after the results of the past election. With President Trump bringing fake news into the mainstream media, reporters must be careful to continue to put out accurate and checked information. With the internet, this has been becoming more and more difficult, as stories are put out every minute. As content gets rushed out onto the web to be the first story or get more popularity than others, I feel that quality may start to suffer. It is the role of the reporter be precise, hasty, and responsible with the work that they decide to share with others. I am excited to begin the process of learning how a reporter gathers good information and pieces together a story. I generally keep up pretty well with the news, but it is easy to not stay connected with it, as other information may consume the time that we spend using the internet, along with the fact that not all sources can be trusted, so misinformation gets spread widely. Determining which stories to trust is a great skill that I am eager to further explore.
