If I were on the FCC one of the first policies I would push is keeping minors off of social media. Social media is a dangerous platform that I believe children should not be exposed to. Social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, and even Twitter have too much unregulated content on them that outright isn't appropriate for children. There's nothing stopping them from seeing something their not supposed to see. I know there's a way for them to mark accounts as children to prevent them from seeing these things, but marking them as children at the same time puts a target on them. So I think they should just remove children from all social media platforms to protect them. The other policy regarding social media is I want every social media platform to have a trained team of regulators who comb through their site to remove illegal content and users, while simultaneously reporting them to the correct local authorities. I feel like this would be a great addition to every platform to maintain them as safe spaces.

Another policy I'd like to implement is protection of peoples privacy. Any website that uses a customers data has to directly tell a customer their data will be used for profit and ask for permission. There are literally thousands of  websites that collect consumer data without their acknowledgement or consent and sell them to advertisers. This is extremely unethical to me, consumers should have a right to decide how their data is used on the internet.

The next policy is one that's already the norm in Canada, ban on advertising of products on children, which includes online websites directed towards children. This means even website like Nick and Cartoon Network won't be able to push any predatory monetization against children on their sites.
