I completely agree with all the notions that McChesney made during his movie. Corporations, specifically the big ones in the internet industry have too much unchecked power. That amount of income and influence over common people needs regulation. These corporations collect information about millions of people each day for their targeted advertisements, I feel like this data collection gives them a little too much insight into peoples lives. But it isn't just about the money, the amount of false information they allow to freely circulate is ridiculous. I feel like its their responsibility to manage their platforms to prevent false information from causing real world problems. The entire anti vax "movement" for example, its been spreading so rapidly because companies like Facebook and Instagram has allowed its users to proliferate false information to their hearts content. The real world consequences of this has been millions of people around America refusing vaccination because they believe it will harm them in particular. Not only is this harming them, but the people around them as well because they refuse to take precautions to prevent themselves from getting a sickness that has quite literally ravaged the planet. This moved off into a bit of a tangent, but I believe if the government prosecuted these companies, more than they're doing now, for letting things like this spread then they would actually take action to prevent these things.
